Chinese Music Appreciation (GE1105)
Introduction
General Education course “Chinese Music Appreciation” will wire you to the “power and secret” of Chinese music. Topics of discussion include issues of identity, politics, modernity, and globalization. We will study a variety of instrumental music (both played by Chinese and Western musical instruments), operatic music, and music in Chinese-language film. We will also gain hands-on experience playing Chinese music together at workshops.
