Chinese Art Appreciation (GE1106)
Introduction
This course will provide the students with a broad exposure and appreciation to Chinese fine arts to help students identify the aesthetics values and art thought, compare Chinese with Western art, realize the link between art and daily life, and recognize the tradition Chinese art and its modern form. Upon completion of this course, students will be familiar with the history and development of tradition Chinese art, the different aesthetics values between traditional art and modern life of art. Also, students will be equipped with the necessary skills and qualities such as self express, cultural creativity and identification and humanistic values through Chinese art appreciation.
Besides learning in classes, students will have chances to create their own paintings under the instruction by famous artists in workshops. Students can practice what they have learnt in the classes through the workshops and possess their unique paintings after the workshops.
